In the fall of 2015, I designed and developed an iPhone game called Jump Fuzzy Jump (the first ever jump rope game for the iPhone). Launching Jump Fuzzy Jump quickly introduced me to – and embedded me into – the surprisingly large world of competitive jump rope.
From there I partnered with renowned jump rope athlete and expert Eilea Given to start Jump Rope Jam. Jump Rope Jam is an online platform that we designed to grow, develop, and raise public awareness of the sport of jump rope. Since its inception, Jump Rope Jam has been gaining momentum, affording me opportunities to grow.
In 2016, jump rope athletes in the U.S. organized to form the American Jump Rope Federation (AMJRF) and recruited me to lead their marketing team. There I use my design and marketing skills to help grow and support the sport of jump rope in the U.S. with the main goal of helping the sport of jump rope reach Olympic levels in 5 years.
America’s most elite athletes didn’t walk straight into competitions with lights, cameras, and tens of thousands of screaming fans. Top-tier organizations like the NFL, MLB, and NBA get plenty of attention, but they sit on an extensive network of smaller-scale competitions and leagues that eventually lead up to the pinnacle of their sport.
Jump rope does not have that infrastructure. Our sport currently only caters to select-style clubs that require intense hours and represent a significant financial commitment.
We believe that competition should be available to everyone at every level of our sport. There’s flag football at the Y, little league baseball, and swim meets at the neighborhood pool. Ever heard of a local trick battle going down in your area? We haven’t either, but it’s about time it happened.
We’re ready to #jumpHigher. Are you?
