I developed this Articulate Storyline concept module for two reasons:
To bring this vision to life, I spent one week planning the experience, writing the content, sourcing the visuals, and developing the final product.
My coworkers and I felt overwhelmed by the amount of text in the training.
Because of this, I decided to focus my instructional design efforts on Reducing cognitive load. By including less text, more relevant visuals, and less content overall, the learning experience would not feel so overwhelming.
I wrote learning objectives for this experience first. This helped me determine exactly what I wanted people to learn.
With the learning objectives in hand, I reviewed the GCN slides against other online publications, and peer-reviewed articles because it was obvious that the GCN module was outdated.
Next, I moved into Storyline to rapidly prototype the eLearning experience.
I used and edited vectors from Shutterstock to fit the needs of every slide. I chose and maintained a color scheme close to the GCN colors, allowing for some dynamic pops to create visual tension.
Overall, the final concept piece I designed enables eLearners to engage in a dynamic and clear training in which the message is enhanced by an organized lesson, pared down slides, and effective images. In addition, this project enabled me to demonstrate my skills and talents.
