The main goal of the series is to create engaging and entertaining videos that motivate viewers to follow along and create their own art.
In my 10 years of teaching art, I have seen that everyone has the potential to be an artist. Many people just need a safe space to try their hand at creating art – a place where mistakes are treated as opportunities to grow. And, of course, it also helps to have a fun and engaging teacher!
That is where Drawing with Doctor Doodle comes in! From an engaging instruction style to the safe virtual space of the Doodle Den, Drawing with Doctor Doodle encourages potential artists to create their own masterpieces.
Helping Doctor Doodle bring the Doodle Den alive are his many friends:
Art the Giraffe and her magical paintbrush tail. Using her tail, Art can paint a magical scene that Doctor Doodle and the viewer can then enter into.
Harold is a stone gargoyle and a biting (but funny!) art critic. When Doctor Doodle completes an artwork Harold will gladly share his opinion of the work with Doctor Doodle and his creative viewers. The brutally honest reviews of Harold aren’t limited to just Doctor Doodle’s artwork; he is willing to critique fan art submissions, too!
Mr. Pencil, Mrs. Eraser & the other art supplies will even come to (animated) life in the Doodle Den!
Doctor Doodle is a character created and performed by me, Cory Gerard.
As Doctor Doodle, I want to share fun and exciting ways to draw and create art with you.
I am not only an art teacher…I am also an artist. I have been creating art since I can remember. I studied illustration and graphic design and have my master’s in art education. Look below for a sampling of my artwork. My favorite medium to work in is water color, but I also love using pastels, pencils, pens, markers, charcoal, and my most recent favorite, the iPad Pro Procreate app to do digital art. In short, I love creating new artwork!
The music for Episode 1, along with future episodes, was created by music artist and producer Caleb Ray.
I designed Harold and he was brought to life by the amazing puppet maker David Fino. Check out Brooklyn Puppet Conspiracy to see more of David’s great puppet work. http://www.brooklynpuppetconspiracy.com
